Nomadic Academy

My main project for 2007 is a Nomadic Academy of Fooling which I am taking part in to develop my already considerable natural talent for foolishness.

I am a part of a company of Fools who are learning a structure to enable us to clamber out of a passive state of mind into a warmer, more creative imaginary space. In venues all over the UK and Europe, different audiences will come with us as we take the journey into our inner worlds, liberating our Selves as we go!

The company of fools, or Knub, will take part in 10-day workshops each month over the course of a year with Jonathan Kay. Jonathan is an experienced, incredibly generous and insightful teacher, who creates a space where it is safe for the participants to lower their defences and explore the infinite possibilities of a world without boundaries. Part of these workshops will be a ‘scratch night’ of improvised performance by the group as well as performances by Jonathan Kay himself.

Part of the Nomadic Academy will be weekend workshops by Jonathan Kay for the public. As an artist, the greatest privilege of matronage for me will be to take part in workshops with my Matrons, where we can experience each other’s creativity on many more levels.

For Jonathan Kay’s experience, teaching and guidance I will be donating money that comes my way through Matrons for the Arts, selling my paintings or the clothes that I make. During this year I will also need food, rent and transport costs.
